Sleep seems sometimes to be categorically better than being awake, especially when you have dreams like I did last night. Cinematic dreams, with card games, mysteries, and obsessive repetition of familiar images. Dreams set in museums, on farms, in ancient mansions, on the top floor of two-flats. Dreams with ethereal girls in flowing white nightgowns and wallets in their back pocket. Dreams with candelabras and big screen televisions. I'll be back for more tonight.
